Digital Twin + Control Tower

A Digital Twin is a near-real-time digital image of a physical system that helps monitor and optimize business performances. Since it is a digital copy of a specific reality, the primary benefit of this technology is the risk-free environment in which it operates.

The Digital Twin is based on three main, technology-driven pillars:

  • Connectivity: Big Data, IoT, and Sensors enable continuous data exchanges among enterprises’ critical products, systems and processes. Our new wide-spread connectivity helps bridge the information gap that is required to tackle our current business complexity.
  • Digitalization: a digital replica of the system under study that mimics its complex behavior over time. The digital copy collects and combines data from different sources and uses this information to drive further intelligent action back into the physical word.

Strategic simulation modelling is often represented by what we consider to be an extension of the Digital Twin: in other words, the “Extended Digital Twin” is presented as a company-tailored version of a specific, pre-existing problem. It usually applies not only to physical systems, but also logical or organizational systems.

The Control Tower is a decision-making environment where decisions stem from the analysis of systems through the support of the Extended Digital Twin. It combines the use of the output of the Extended Digital Twin with real-time knowledge/information of business processes (often relative to the KPIs of the company’s regarding competitive positioning).
